Collector Car Appreciation Day
Friday July 14, 2017
Fri Jul 25
Join Heacock Classic for a World-Class exhibition of rare and magnificent Classic Vehicles at the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. Johns on July 25 – 27, 2014. The impeccable grounds of the historic Inn at St. Johns provide an elegant venue with plenty of shade, as well as fine lodging and dining options right onsite. Concours d’Elegance events are rooted in 17th century France, when the aristocracy would parade their horse-drawn carriages through the parks of Paris. With the advent of the automobile, Concours d’Elegance events evolved into competitions between automobile manufacturers, custom coachbuilders, and owners, whose vehicles were judged on the beauty of their design.
For its first 32 years the Concours d’Elegance of America was held at Oakland University’s Meadow Brook Hall, the historic home of Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of automotive pioneer John Dodge. In 2011 this world-class event moved to the beautiful grounds of the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan.
Along with the traditional classic and sports car classes, the event will also feature a very special selection of significant cars designed by Virgil Exner, hosted by his son and noted designer himself Virgil Exner, Jr. St. Johns will also celebrate the 50th Anniversaries of the Mustang, the Ford GT 40, and the Pontiac GTO. Activities begin on Friday with tours, music, and an auction reception, and Saturday features many seminars, luncheons, and the 20th Annual RM Auction. Don’t miss the elegant Saturday evening celebration – “High Heels and Wheels” – a strolling dinner guaranteed to take you on a culinary journey around the world. Sunday, Concours Chairman Larry Moss and his distinguished Judges will have the challenge of choosing the winners and Best of Show from over 250 of the world’s finest collector vehicles, and Heacock Classic will be onsite all day providing insurance expertise and meeting our friends, old and new.
